Functional Organization of Respiratory System

This video lecture is about physiology of respiratory system for undergraduate medical students. However postgraduates and practicing physicians are also encouraged to revise the functional anatomy and physiology of respiratory system. Goals of the lecture are summarized below.

At the end of the lecture, students should be able to:

  1. Understand the goal of respiration and two processes of respiration
  2. Discuss the non-respiratory functions of respiratory system
  3. Discuss the functional anatomy of respiratory system
  4. Discuss the functions of different respiratory airways
  5. Discuss the lungs and chest wall
  6. Discuss the anatomical and functional divisions of respiratory tract and concept of anatomical dead space
  7. Discuss the functions of pleural fluid
