Lung Volumes and Capacities

At the end of the lecture students should be able to:
1. List different lung volumes and capacities with their definitions and normal values
2. Discuss helium dilution method for measuring functional residual capacity (FRC)
3. Define forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and its importance
4. Discuss FEV1 / FVC ratio and its importance
5. Discuss the alterations in lung volumes and capacities in obstructive and restrictive lung diseases
